This class is designed for anglers looking to develop a technical understanding of rigging for both nymphing and dry dropper approaches. We’ll take a systematic look at how to build reliable, adaptable rigs that maximize presentation and depth control in a variety of water types.
Topics covered include:
– Leader architecture: transitioning from tapered leaders to custom nymphing leaders
– Tippet selection by diameter, material, and function (fluoro vs. mono)
– Fly spacing: tag vs. inline rigs and dropper length considerations
– Anchor fly strategies for depth and drift control
– Weighting systems: split shot vs. tungsten flies vs. putty
– Dry dropper rig configurations for shallow vs. deep water applications
– Indicator choices: suspender vs. euro-style vs. bushy dry flies as tools of suspension
– Adjusting rig components for flow, clarity, and fish behavior
This is a hands-on, rig-building class with an emphasis on decision-making in rig design. Perfect for those just getting into technical fishing or anglers who want to improve their rig efficiency and adaptability on the water.
All materials provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own rods and reels if they want to practice complete setup.
